Terra Nostra Association (TNA) was created in 2000 with the purpose to increase citizen participation in improving the quality of life, conserving Costa Rica’s biodiversity, and reclaiming the country’s natural-historical-cultural patrimony.
MISSION
TNA’s mission is to create, develop and support activities that contribute to the improvement of our social and natural environment by actively encouraging social responsibility and participation in waste management and water management.
VISION
To be a facilitator of civil society”s access to information and a meaningful role in better environmental management.
OBJECTIVES

To develop programs that foster a culture of caring for society and the environment by means of educational, cultural and artistic activities.

To promote active participation in decision-making processes that concern the environment.

To conduct activities that contribute to the improvement quality of life in our communities, with the support of corporate social responsibility.

To create and implement projects that record our natural and cultural heritage, and broaden our understanding of it.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
President: Nydia Rodríguez. Environmental educator and communications specialist with emphasis in audiovisual production. She has produced over 200 educational documentaries for public television and has worked with UNESCO, GTZ, Conservation International and other international organizations.
Vice President: Gerardo Budowski, Ph.D.
Director of Natural Resources and Peace of the U.N. University for Peace. Former Vice Rector of the U.N. University for Peace and former Deputy Director of the Earth Council, Costa Rica. He has been Head of UNESCO´s Department of Ecology and Conservation in Paris, General Director of IUCN in Switzerland, and Head of the Natural Resources Department of IICA and CATIE in Costa Rica.
Secretary: Oscar Brenes.
Oscar Brenes Gámez, Secretary of Board, Agronomist, MSc in Perennial Crops, works in Integrade Projects of Conservation & Development, was Program Officer for the Central American regional office of the WWF, and actually is Consultant for the Tropical Science Center (CCT).
Treasurer: Guiselle Hidalgo.
Graduate of Master in Administration and Direction of Businesses with emphasis on Finances of the Universidad de Costa Rica. Management of budgets, personnel and development, implementation projects, among others in private companies and non profit organization.
Member of the Board: Ana Cristina Rossi.
Novelist with a master’s degree in development and women’s studies. Her work has been translated into French and English. She has also been a journalist, and is a renowned environmental activist in Costa Rica.
Member of the Board: Moisés León Azofeifa, PhD.
(Tulane University, 1989), Anthropologist, Social Psychologist, Consultant: Culture and Sustainable Development, Social Impact, for United Nations Development Programme, CARE, Avina Foundation, OAS, Fairtrade (TransfairUSA, CafeDirect), Enfants du Monde, Intel Corporation. Projects Director for the Earthwatch Institute, Boston; Director, School for Field Studies, Costa Rica; Director, Caribbean Refugee Program of New Orleans. Taught Social Psychology at the National University and Anthropology at the University of Costa Rica.
Member of the Board: Giovanna Longhi.
Graphic designer and national international marketing consultant. Representative in Costa Rica of “Ocean Conservancy” for their annual Coastal Clean Up Program.
Fiscal: Oscar Lucke.
Forest Engineer and Geographer. Professor at the School of Geography and Graduate Studies System, University of Costa Rica.Associate and Member of the Board of Directors of the Tropical Science Center, Costa Rica. International Independent Consultant for several international organizations with more than 15 years of experience on natural resources and environmental management fields. |
